About

Welcome to PaulGrantDesigns.com, the creative home of Paul Grant.

PaulGrantDesigns, or “PGD” for short, reflects a broad journey of over 20 years in design. Here you’ll get a small taste of my formative background in branding and digital illustration, which was a strong focus for many years. As time progressed, I branched off into email and microsite design and campaigns, as well as story boards, iconography and infographics. In the infancy of the UX creative revolution, like many design veterans, my creative road lead to greater and greater exposure to UI and UX-based roles, to the point where that has been my main focus for the past 10 years.

My sister site — www.GrantUX.com — houses strictly UI/UX related tasks.

To provide historical context, my life in design can be traced back to an early fascination with my father’s architectural and mechanical books. My father was impressively multi-talented, and could figure out just about any system in construction or mechanics. Spending most of my free time sketching ideas, I was fascinated with building shapes and patterns, and dreamed of becoming an architect. Then, some additional influences steered me towards a career in Graphic Design, and the rest is history.

Some of my personal interests are...

Coffee, board games, video games, creative problem solving, home renovation, sketching, online news, podcasts, mobile, youtube instructional videos, sci-fi and action movies, burger joints, the game of politics, Apple, photography, hockey playoffs, pyramids, Chinese food, BBQ, being a night owl, eclectic musical tastes, spiritual pursuits, travel, technology, bicycles, learning, adapting, self expression, random drives, hidden mysteries.
